Session Details
WHAT DOES THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME INCLUDE?
At ISPPD-13 we plan to have an informative and exciting programme that highlights the areas of substantial recent progress while also posing the tough questions where progress has been more challenging.
- Wherever possible, Plenary sessions will take a cross-disciplinary approach to major areas in the field.
- Parallel sessions will allow you to explore specific topics that include but are not limited to clinical issues, host-immune interactions, genomics, immunology, microbiology, epidemiology and the interface between these areas.
- Meet-the-Expert sessions and Pre-Meeting Workshops will provide opportunities for interaction with professionals in smaller-structured settings.
- Researchers at all levels will have an opportunity to present their work in interactive Poster sessions. Attention will be given to how to exchange knowledge and translate findings into policy that benefits individuals affected by or at risk of pneumococcal diseases worldwide.
- Interactive Learning: All scientific sessions include Q&A portions to provide interactive learning opportunities for the attendees. We encourage the audience to ask questions and interact with the presenters during these portions.

- Plenary sessions at ISPPD-13 aim to take a cross-disciplinary approach to major areas in the field wherever possible.
- Renowned experts in the area of pneumonia and pneumococcal diseases will cover a variety of important topics.
- Each presentation is 15 minutes long followed by 5 minutes of Q&A, which is included in each speaker’s presentation duration. The audience is encouraged to send questions to the speakers from the beginning of their presentations via the ISPPD-13 Virtual Platform or Mobile App.

- Workshops will provide opportunities for interaction with professionals in limited-number groups.
- All Workshops will take place on Sunday, 17 March 2024, and will help participants to immerse themselves in the subject of pneumonia and pneumococcal diseases before the official start of the meeting on Monday, 18 March 2024.

- Researchers at all levels and from diverse backgrounds will showcase their work onsite via traditional printed posters and online via an interactive E-Poster gallery. Additionally, E-Poster spotlight presentations of selected abstracts will take place on Monday (18 March) and Wednesday (20 March).
- Attention will be given to how to exchange knowledge and translate findings into policy that benefit individuals affected by or at risk of pneumonia and pneumococcal diseases worldwide.

E-Poster Spotlight Sessions
- The E-Posters of selected abstracts will be presented in dedicated E-Poster Spotlight sessions at the meeting venue in Cape Town as indicated in the programme.
- The presenters of spotlight posters will give short oral talks in front of each of the 4 E-Poster stations onsite. The talks will take place onsite only and will not be recorded.

Poster Viewing
- There is no designated presentation time for abstracts accepted for Poster Viewing. Presenting authors are advised to stand by their posters during longer programming breaks and interact with delegates interested in their work. Registered attendees are also able to send messages to presenters through the interactive E-Poster Gallery.
